For one of our clients, an international engineering firm providing innovative industrial services, we are looking for technical professionals for the following job roles:

You will join the Pipeline Department, a team of young engineers and designers who are responsible in providing the design of cables and pipelines to transport product (gas or liquid) from the customer to the user and operates in a dynamic playing field of stakeholders who want to take claim on public space.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • As an Engineer, you will deal with all the issues in the field of underground (main) pipelines for heat networks (district heating), transport and distribution of energy providers, chemicals, drinking water, and wastewater. As a Designer, you will work on the design of these pipelines. As the Lead Engineer, your responsibility is to manage this team. It is important that the Lead Engineer has technical knowledge in order to navigate the team in the right direction and ensure the quality of the projects.
  • As an Engineer, you will perform route studies and strength calculations, also hydraulic and soil mechanical calculations. As a Designer, you will also perform these route studies and draw up 3D models, in which you process information from cables, pipes, and measurement data, and draw up installation plans, route and detail maps. Additionally, Designers will also prepare material lists and bending states, and process the actual construction (the as-built situation) on drawings.
  • You will work independently and proactively together with your fellow (Lead) Engineers and Designers on mono- and multidisciplinary projects (from small to larger projects). Therefore, you will have frequent contact with colleagues. As an Engineer you will work independently on smaller projects and support the Lead Engineers on larger projects. As a Designer, you will work independently on small to medium sized projects, and also support the Lead Engineer on larger projects. In the case of multidisciplinary projects, the Lead Engineer will work together with all technical disciplines and maintain good contact at all times.
  • There is intensive contact with stakeholders both internally and externally. Internal communications relates to contact between draftsmen and Lead Engineers, while external communications relates to contact client and all parties in the public space. The parties involved in the public space include public stakeholders such as municipalities, provinces, water boards and private parties such as cables and pipelines owners, suppliers, and contractors.
    • Engineers and Designers, are the link between draftsmen and Lead Engineers when it comes to internal contact. In terms of external contact, they will assist the Lead Engineer.
    • The Lead Engineer will be responsible for the internal communication with the draftsmen and engineers. In terms of external contact, you will communicate with the client and all parties involved in the public space.
  • Where necessary, Designers will assist the Engineers and Lead Engineers in meetings with clients to explain your work.
  • Designers will also form an internal team with usually one Engineer and one Lead Engineer, and together you will ensure the monitoring of the planning and quality of the work.
  • Due to the wide variety of projects you will come into contact with many facets of the field, which means there is plenty of variation and development in your work.
  • You will draw up a personal development plan in consultation with your manager, and will receive ample coaching and guidance from your team to enable you to grow. (Junior) Engineers can grow into a Lead Engineer, discipline specialist or Project Manager. Designers can grow into senior designers or engineers.

Requirements Designing/Engineering roles Pipelines

Designer Pipelines (Entry to Mid-Level):

  • Preferably a completed Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline. However, a minimum of a post-secondary vocational education in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is also fine.
  • At least 1-3 years of work experience.
  • You are knowledgeable with CAD programs such as Plant3D, Civil3D, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS.
  • You are proactive, have excellent communication skills, eager to learn, work accurately, and have a result-driven attitude.
  • You have your own work under control and are flexible.

Engineer Pipelines:

  • Bachelor's or University degree in Civil, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Approximately 0-3 years of work experience with geographical information systems, (soil) mechanics, fluid dynamics and preferably with finite element program.
  • You are proactive, have excellent communication skills (this is essential for contact with the many stakeholders), ambitious, eager to learn, and work accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills in English as well as Dutch, both verbally and in writing.
  • Preferably, you are knowledgeable of software packages such as Autodesk, PLE, Wanda (Heat), D-Geo, and ArcGIS.

Medior Engineer Pipelines:

  • Bachelor's or University degree in Civil, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • At least 5-8 years of work experience as an (underground infrastructure) engineer.
  • Excellent communication skills in English as well as Dutch, both verbally and in writing.
  • You have experience in managing teams.
  • You have experience with geographical information systems, (soil) mechanics, fluid dynamics and preferably with finite element program.
  • You are knowledgeable of software packages such as Autodesk, PLE, Wanda (Heat), D-Geo, and ArcGIS.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary projects is a plus

Lead Engineer Pipelines:

  • Bachelor's or University degree in Civil, Mechanical or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of work experience as an engineer within the field.
  • Must have experience with civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or (soil) mechanics.
  • Experience with offshore techniques and multidisciplinary projects is a plus!
  • Must be knowledgeable of the pipelines field (above or underground pipelines) and the playing field.
  • You are familiar with the NEN3650 and NEN3651.
  • You like to work in teams, take initiative, and you know how to convince others of your ideas.
  • Excellent communication skills in English as well as Dutch, both verbally and in writing.
  • You are proactive and have essential skills in contact with the many stakeholders.
  • You have experience with project administration and control, and managing project teams.
  • Experience with the software packages PLE, Wanda (Heat), CAESAR, CAROLA, SAFETI and/or D-Geo.
