Profile Process Safety Engineer

We currently seek a Process Safety Engineer for one of our clients. The key responsibility of the Process Safety Engineer is to ensure that client and industry requirements are met whilst developing the technical safety design for a project. In order to achieve this, the Process Safety Engineer performs a large number of safety studies, of which the results are monitored and accurately implemented in the design.

Tasks & responsibilities:
  • Manage major accident hazards (fires and explosions) on offshore facilities through analysis of hazard consequence models and determination of likelihood;
  • Develop safety and loss prevention deliverables studies;
  • Ensure that safety and loss prevention requirements are met technically, issued on schedule and communicated and documented properly;
  • Involved in Safety and Loss Prevention activities;
  • Liaise with other disciplines to achieve safety in design that protects people, assets and environment.

Requirements Process Safety Engineer

  • Bachelor and/or Master degree in Engineering (Safety Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering);
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in the field of technical safety related to the Oil & Gas industry;
  • In-depth experience and sound technical knowledge in both conceptual, FEED and detailed design of Safety & Loss Prevention design on floating production units for the Oil & Gas industry;
  • Familiar with the development of the Hazard Management Plan and execution of Safety and Risk Studies covering Fire Consequence Modelling, CFD Explosion Analysis, Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA), EERA, Dropped Object Study, Ship Collision Study etc.;
  • Good MS Office skills;
  • Familiar with review methods such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, LOPA etc.;
  • Experience with Offshore projects is required;
  • Experience in Fire Protection Design, Passive Fire Protection, Hazardous Area Classification and other Loss Prevention design is an advantage;
  • Conversant with international standards applicable to hydrocarbon processing industry, such as APl, lSO, lEC, NFPA etc.;
  • Good interface knowledge and demonstrable experience with related Disciplines, i.e. Process, Piping, Instrumentation, Process Controls & Automation, Marine and Structural;
  • Familiar with rules of classification societies (i.e.: ABS, DNV'GL, BV and Lloyds Register), international organizations and proper implementation of health, safety, security and environmental (HSSE) policies;
  • Excellent command of the English language, written and spoken;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Competences: solution oriented, out of the box thinker, team player, but also capable and comfortable with working independently, communicative.
