Profile Brownfield Electrical Engineer

Do you have experience working on brownfield projects on offshore facilities? Can you adapt and enhance existing electrical systems on offshore facilities?

For one of our clients, a Dutch engineering firm, we are looking for a Brownfield Electrical Engineer.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed design activities for electrical systems in brownfield projects. This could involve modifying or extending existing electrical systems to accommodate new requirements.
  • Ensure that all electrical designs adhere to the required standards to maintain safety, reliability, and consistency across the platforms.
  • Understand the unique challenges and constraints of working in offshore environments, including safety regulations, space limitations, and logistical considerations.
  • Prepare specifications (specs) and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) for various electrical systems, such as MCC (Motor Control Center), switchgear, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, and LV distribution boards. This involves defining the technical requirements for procurement and evaluating bids from vendors.
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests to ensure that the electrical system procured from vendors meet the specified requirements before they are deployed on offshore platforms.
  • Conduct electrical system studies, such as load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination studies, to ensure that the electrical systems function correctly and safely under various operating conditions.
  • Design and modify LV distribution systems, including switchgear, UPS systems, and LV distribution boards. This involves determining the layout, capacity, and protective measures for these systems.
  • Prepare various electrical design deliverables, including cable lists, LV distribution block diagrams, small power/lighting/earthing layouts, termination diagrams, installation typical hookups, and mounting typicals. These documents provide the detailed guidance necessary for implementing the design.

Requirements Brownfield Electrical Engineer

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or Energy Engineering.
  • Worked for an engineering company for at least 5 years.
  • Experience in Brownfield detailed design activities.
  • Experience with NAM/Shell standards.
  • Experience with Offshore Oil & Gas platforms.
  • Experience in preparing specs, TBE, and attending FAT for electrical LV systems like MCC, switchgear, UPS systems, and LV distribution boar
  • Experience with Electrical System Studies.
  • Familiar with LV distribution systems like LV switchgear, UPS systems, and LV distribution boards.
  • Proficient in preparing electrical detailed design deliverables like:
    • Cablelist
    • LV distribution block diagrams
    • Small power/lighting/earthing layouts
    • Termination diagrams
    • Installation typical hookups.
    • Mounting typicals
  • In possession of offshore certificates (BOSIET).
