Profile Coating Engineer

Can you provide technical expertise in coating manufacturing, application, and inspection? Are you capable of selecting and implementing the appropriate coating systems to protect offshore equipment?

For one of our clients providing innovative offshore solutions, we are looking for a Coating Engineer.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Engineer protection of equipment/assets through coating, insulation and fireproofing in alignment with Group, Client, and Project requirements, covering coating systems selection, application, and testing. This involves issuing engineering specifications, application procedures, technical notes, and testing plans.
  • Support package engineers, supply chain, and inspection teams comprehensively on coating, lining, insulation, and fireproofing scopes.
  • Provide specific input to other disciplines (piping, mechanical, structural, process, etc.) on coating, lining, insulation, and fireproofing matters.
  • Assist construction teams at shipyards and fabrication yards on all aspects of coating, lining, insulation, personnel protection, and fireproofing scopes.
  • Implement the company's working instructions and contribute ideas and tools for improvements and innovative solutions.
  • Capture lessons learned, identify improvements and opportunities throughout the project and submit findings to the DLE on the project.
  • Ensure deliverables from equipment suppliers and manufacturers comply with the company's specifications and international rules, codes, and standards.
  • Maintain constant alignment with material selection, corrosion, and cathodic protection colleagues to ensure a coherent MCP strategy, minimising discrepancies and gaps.
  • Review materials deliverables, including coating procedures, quality plans, and inspection test plans.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of coating and lining systems in equipment packages, adhering to applicable project specifications.
  • Comply with Group Technical Standards and GEMS processes, raising comments and deviations when necessary.
  • Interface with subcontractors and yards to resolve coating and lining issues, as required.
  • Provide technical advice and support on coating manufacture, application, and inspection matters as needed.
  • Propose suitable actions to prevent, absorb, or minimise deviations in terms of time and costs.
  • Collect Project Lessons Learned for continuous improvement implementation.

Requirements Coating Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in corrosion protection by coatings and linings in industries such as Shipbuilding, Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical process plants, or offshore process facilities (e.g., platforms).
  • Knowledge of international standards for specifying, applying, and inspecting coatings and linings.
  • Professional coating specialist qualifications are desirable.
  • Office presence is required for a few days every week.
  • Willingness to travel to yards, fabrication sites, and vendor premises worldwide.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously, demonstrating flexibility and strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Team-player mindset with a proven track record of delivering in a multicultural environment, willing to share knowledge, and contribute to standardisation and simplification.
