Electrical Engineer
Profile Electrical Engineer
Do you have experience turning E-plan schematics and load studies into cranes that actually move steel at sea? Are LV/MV design, breaker/selectivity checks and cable sizing second nature to you?
-
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to design and deliver LV/MV power, drives and control systems for ram-luffing and special-purpose cranes, from concept and detailed design through supplier follow-up, verification/validation and CE compliance while improving workflows and guarding quality across projects.
-
Tasks & responsibilities:
- Translate functional specs into electrical concepts, block diagrams and detailed E-plan schematics (single-/multi-line, wiring, cable lists, I/O).
 - Perform electrical calculations: load and diversity, cable sizing, breaker/protection sizing, selectivity, and short-circuit checks.
 - Specify motors, drives (VFDs), starters, switchgear, transformers and protection/measurement devices (LV/MV).
 - Engineer integration of rotating equipment and motion/drive systems for crane applications (ram-luffing hoist, slew, auxiliary).
 - Prepare BOMs, technical datasheets and purchase specs; evaluate vendor proposals and support procurement.
 - Manage third-party suppliers for panels and assemblies; conduct shop inspections/FAT and review documentation.
 - Execute risk assessments per ISO 12100; contribute to functional-safety concept (IEC 62061/ISO 13849) and SIL verification.
 - Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEC 30204-s, IEC 61439, IEC 61800, marine/class requirements) and CE marking files.
 - Deliver as-built packages, test protocols and user documentation; support construction, installation and commissioning.
 - Act as electrical work-package lead on assigned projects: plan deliverables, track progress, handle changes and inform stakeholders.
 - Identify and implement workflow improvements, templates and E-plan automation to accelerate design-to-installation.

Requirements Electrical Engineer
- Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical Engineering, Power/Drives/Automation or similar.
 - 2+ years of experience (mid/senior also welcome) in LV/MV design for heavy machinery, cranes, marine/offshore or similar.
 - Strong in E-plan P8 and reading/producing detailed electrical drawings and panel layouts.
 - Proven capability in cable/breaker sizing, protection coordination, short-circuit/selectivity and earthing/bonding.
 - Hands-on with rotating equipment and variable-speed drives (e.g., SINAMICS or equivalent) and motor starting methods.
 - Familiar with functional safety (IED 62061/ISO 13849, risk assessment (ISO 12100) and CE machinery compliance.
 - Comfortable managing suppliers and performing factory inspections/FAT; willing to make short site/yard visits.
 - Knowledge of PLC/SCADA interfaces and industrial networks (PROFINET/Profibus) is a plus.
 - Strong English communication, Dutch or German is an advantage.
 - VCA (or willingness to obtain); offshore medical/BOSIET beneficial.
