Profile Lead Engineer Marine Steel Structures
As Lead Engineer Temporary Steel Structures, you are responsible for both the technical execution and coordination of temporary steel solutions used in complex marine and offshore operations. You will actively contribute to engineering deliverables (approximately 60 to 70 percent of your time) and supervise a small team of engineers and draftsmen. Your work directly supports offshore campaigns, heavy-lift transport, and installation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and verification of temporary steel structures for offshore vessels and transport
- Define scopes, budgets and timelines together with project managers and clients
- Prepare and check structural calculations, strength analyses (FEM), and detailed construction drawings
- Ensure compliance with offshore standards, safety requirements and class rules
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and coordinate work packages
- Maintain client contact throughout the engineering phase and contribute to operational planning
Requirements Lead Engineer Marine Steel Structures
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar
- At least 8 years of experience in structural design, preferably in offshore or maritime projects
- Solid knowledge of offshore loads, transport dynamics, steel structures and material behavior
- Proficient with FEM tools, structural analysis software, and 3D CAD packages (e.g. Solid Edge)
- Experienced in leading small teams and technically overseeing complex deliverables
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); Dutch is not required
