Do you have experience in using advanced design software to bring complex marine engineering to life, as well as designing marine vessels and structures for offshore projects?

We are looking for a Naval Architecture Designer to create technically accurate and constructible designs for naval architecture projects.

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Apply technical knowledge to create designs that are practical, functional, and adherent to company, industry, and client standards.
  • Use specialised software tools to accurately represent designs that are clear and interpretable by project teams.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and the lead designer to ensure the design intent is accurately captured and understood, reducing the need for rework.
  • Plan and execute assigned tasks within set timelines, prioritising work effectively to manage overlapping deadlines and ensure continued progress.
  • Organise all documents and deliverables in an easily accessible and understandable format to facilitate smooth project operations.
  • Work with engineers and other designers to share information, enhance product quality, and resolve any design conflicts that arise.
  • Proactively bring forward unresolved design issues to the lead designer or engineer to minimise delays and maintain project momentum.
  • Conduct self-checks and collaborate with package engineers to ensure all designs meet required quality levels and are free from errors.
  • Contribute to the project's success by ensuring all designs are completed on budget and schedule and are fully functional, constructible, and manufacturable.

Requirements Naval Architecture Designer

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in naval architecture or marine design, with specific exposure to offshore or maritime projects.
  • Must be proactive in improving technical skills relevant to assigned tasks.
  • Need to understand how individual tasks fit into the overall project timeline and impact other stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in project requirements while ensuring adherence to MOC procedures.
  • Must ensure consistency in design and symbology, and perform thorough self-checks to produce error-free deliverables.
  • Work effectively with package engineers to ensure timely review of vendor documents and provide quality feedback.
  • Adhere to project scope, work instructions, specifications, codes, industry standards, and regulations to meet all project requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with various project teams.
  • Proficient in using relevant design software and tools required for naval architecture tasks such as AutoCAD and AVEVA.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of quality in all design outputs to meet or exceed project and client expectations.
