PLC Engineer

Do you have experience integrating drives, safety PLC logic, and hydraulics into one seamless control system? Can you build controls that are safe, compliant with standards, and reliable in harsh environments?

We are looking for a PLC Engineer to design, program, test, and commission Siemens-based PLC/HMI/SCADA control systems for heavy-duty lifting equipment, owning the scope from concept and design through build, FAT and site start-up.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Translate functional requirements into control philosophy, FDS and I/O lists.
• Develop PLC applications in Siemens TIA Portal (S7-1500/1200), including safety logic.
• Design HMIs in WinCC and build SCADA pages, alarms and trends.
• Configure drives/motion (e.g., SINAMICS), sensors and I/O (ET200).
• Integrate control with hydraulic/mechanical systems via PROFINET/Profibus.
• Create test protocols, simulate/bench-test software and lead FAT.
• Support site commissioning (yard, quayside, offshore), troubleshooting and optimisation.
• Maintain version control and as-built documentation; deliver user manuals.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical and project teams; guide suppliers where needed.
• Contribute to the standardisation and continuous improvement of software templates.

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control/Automation or similar.
• 2+ years of PLC experience (open to mid/senior profiles).
• Strong Siemens stack: TIA Portal, S7-1500/1200, WinCC (HMI/SCADA).
• Experience with safety PLC (SIL/PL) and CE-compliant design principles.
• Hands-on with drives and motion control (e.g., SINAMICS S120/G120) and industrial instrumentation.
• Comfortable with industrial networks (PROFINET, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Able to read electrical schematics and work alongside EPLAN/AutoCAD outputs.
• Willing to travel for FAT and short commissioning assignments.
• Strong English communication; Dutch is a plus!
