Senior Offshore Telecommunications Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Offshore Telecommunications Engineer to design, integrate, and lead the implementation of all telecom systems on offshore platforms while ensuring technical integrity, regulatory compliance, and seamless collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Develop project-specific telecommunications system designs, including philosophies, layouts, specifications, block diagrams and calculations.
• Act as package engineer for telecom scopes, collaborating with Supply Chain on technical bid evaluations.
• Balance cost, constructability, operability and maintainability throughout design and execution.
• Lead the telecom team and coordinate information flow to remote engineers and integrators for creating layouts, cable block diagrams, termination and loop diagrams, cable and junction-box lists, and material take-offs.
• Review and validate vendor data to ensure proper integration and interfacing of subsystems.
• Ensure alignment of telecom interfaces with other disciplines (e.g., E&I, structural, safety).
• Perform quality reviews of subcontractor deliverables for consistency and compliance.
• Verify all telecom systems meet regulatory, classification, internal and client requirements.
• Provide feedback to technical standards groups for continuous improvement of solutions and processes.
• Keep up to date with offshore and shipbuilding telecom technologies and industry trends.
• Mentor and train junior telecom engineers on technical scope and best practices.
• Contribute to the enhancement of engineering methods and tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience designing offshore telecommunication systems for oil & gas projects.
• Proven experience acting as a package engineer and managing remote engineering teams.
• Expertise with marine telecom applications and hazardous-area designs (e.g., IECEx).
• Hands-on knowledge of key offshore systems:
  • VSAT
  • PAGA
  • PABX & VoIP Telephony
  • LAN, Wi-Fi & 4G/LTE networks
  • Navigational and GMDSS equipment
  • Metocean monitoring
  • UHF/VHF marine & aeronautical radios
  • CCTV & TVRO systems
  • Tanker-berthing and FPSO positioning systems
• Strong leadership, proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Comfort with MS Office suite and telecom engineering software.
• Willingness to travel and a safety-focused team-oriented mindset.
