Senior Process Control Engineer

Profile Senior Process Control Engineer

Can you turn a control philosophy into rock-solid logic that behaves exactly as the process expects, first time at FAT?

-

We are looking for a Senior Process Control Engineer who designs, specifies, and delivers robust process control systems, from control narratives and logic to commissioning and handover, to keep complex offshore facilities safe, stable, and optimised.

-

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Own the process control scope across FEED, detailed design, integration, testing, and commissioning.
  • Develop control philosophies, narratives, P&IDs inputs, control loop sizing/selection, and cause-and-effect matrices.
  • Specify and review ICSS/PCS/DCS/PLC configurations, I/O lists, interface points (ESD, F&G, turbomachinery, vendor packages).
  • Lead alarm strategy and rationalisation, define setpoints, ranges, overrides, and permissives.
  • Produce and review functional design specs, logic diagrams, and data exchange maps with vendors and subs.
  • Plan and execute FAT/SAT, loop checks, and site acceptance activities, and resolve punch items to closure.
  • Support start-up, performance testing, tuning, and optimisation of control loops and sequences.
  • Manage schedule, budget, and quality for the control scope, report progress and risks, and drive mitigations.
  • Capture and apply lessons learned, standardise templates and tools across projects.
  • When assigned, act as Package Engineer for control-related packages (e.g., ICSS upgrades, skids).
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate multi-discipline interfaces (process, electrical, instrumentation, safety).

Requirements Senior Process Control Engineer

  • Engineering degree in a relevant discipline (automation, control, chemical/process, electrical, instrumentation).
  • 5-10 years of experience in oil and gas projects delivering process control/ICSS scopes (FEED to commissioning).
  • Solid knowledge of control theory, loop tuning, interlocks, and sequence design, hands-on with DCS/PLC/SCADA.
  • Proficiency with control design tools and data management (I/O databases, cause-and-effect, logic diagrams).
  • Experience with FAT/SAT, site engineering, start-up, and performance optimisation.
  • Familiarity with functional safety concepts (e.g., SIL lifecycle, IEC 61511) and alarm management good practice.
  • Strong vendor/subcontractor coordination skills, able to manage scope, interfaces, and technical queries.
  • Proven ability to plan work, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.
