SCADA Engineer

Profile SCADA Engineer

Have you engineered SCADA for offshore substations and utility/TSO interfaces? Can you own specs, TBEs and vendor reviews all the way through FAT/SAT/ISAT while keeping cybersecurity, redundancy and availability front and center?

-

We are looking for a SCADA Engineer to lead the detailed SCADA design and implementation for offshore wind assets, with a focus on offshore substations and TSO interfaces.

-

Tasks & responsibilities:

  • Lead the detailed SCADA design across EPC phases: requirements capture, system architecture, network topology, redundancy (PRP/HSR/RSTP) and cybersecurity (IEC 62443 concepts).
  • Produce and maintain engineering deliverables: FDS, I/O & signal lists, interface lists, cause-&-effect, alarm handling, HMI/historian tag lists, network drawings.
  • Specify and integrate RTUs/PLCs, gateways, firewalls, HMIs, historians; define data models and select protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA).
  • Coordinate interfaces with protection, metering, telecoms, cybersecurity and grid/TSO stakeholders to ensure end-to-end operability and compliance.
  • Prepare datasheets/specs, perform TBEs, review vendor docs and support supplier selection.
  • Plan, script, witness and close out FAT/SAT/ISAT, manage punch lists, support site commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure alignment with client standards and frameworks (IEC 61850/60870, IEC 62443, TSO requirements); contribute to lessons learned.

Requirements SCADA Engineer

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation or Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years hands-on SCADA engineering, including detailed design on greenfield projects.
  • Exposure to offshore substations / TSO environments (HV substations, grid codes) is a strong plus.
  • Proficient with at least one major stack (Siemens, ABB, GE, Schneider) across PLC/RTU, HMI/SCADA and historian layers.
  • Solid knowledge of IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus, OPC UA and industrial networking (VLANs, routing, redundancy).
  • Experience with specs/FDS, TBEs, FAT/SAT/commissioning and vendor coordination.
  • Familiar with OT cybersecurity practices (hardening, access control, zoning/segmentation).
  • Excellent communication in English (Dutch is a plus); willing to travel to yard/sites when needed.
  • Ownership mindset: structured, solution-oriented, comfortable in 5-10 person project teams.
