We are looking for a Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer - Naval & Offshore to lead the conceptual & basic design of advanced marine mechanical systems. You'll be responsible for designing propulsion trains, control surfaces, and critical equipment/piping, from first principles to yard-ready deliverables.

Tasks & responsibilities:
- Define and deliver concept & basic design for mechanical systems, such as propulsion train (engines/gearbox/shafts/bearings/couplings), planes & rudders, valves, hatches, and auxiliaries.
- Develop P&IDs, equipment layouts, pipe specs and line sizing; produce 2D/3D models and installation drawings.
- Run core calculations, such as pressure drop/pump sizing, thermal & hydraulic balances, shaft alignment, vibration/shock and noise (as applicable).
- Coordinate interfaces with structures, naval architecture, E&A, HVAC and combat/mission systems; resolve clashes and loads.
- Review vendor/co-maker documentation, support technical bid evaluations and package integration.
- Lead/mentor junior engineers, act as sparring partner to the Lead/Chief Engineer, drive design reviews, change control and risk management.
- Ensure class/standard compliance and producibility, support yard/shipboard queries through testing/commissioning as needed.
- Contribute to methods, templates and lessons learned to improve speed and quality.
Requirements Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineer - Naval & Offshore
- 5+ years of experience in marine/mechanical engineering with concept & basic design responsibility (naval/offshore preferred).
- Strong grasp of propulsion/machinery systems, mechanical components and piping design practices.
- Proficiency in reading/building P&IDs and 2D/3D deliverables (e.g., Cadmatic/AVEVA/ShipConstructor/SolidWorks/NX or similar).
- Working knowledge of class rules/standards and shipyard practices; awareness of vibration/shock and alignment constraints.
- Proven stakeholder skills across multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers, clear communication and leadership/mentoring ability.
- Curious, improvement-minded, and comfortable switching between large programs and fast-track packages.
- English fluent (Dutch a plus), and EU work eligibility preferred.
- Nice to have but not a must:
- Experience on submarines, frigates or floating offshore assets.
- Exposure to RAMS/FMEA, CFD/FEA collaboration, and commissioning/FAT/SAT.
- Familiarity with PLM/ERP (e.g., Teamcenter, Navision) and SharePoint-based workflows.
